Microsoft is becoming increasingly innovative in leveraging AI across its product lineup. In Windows 11, Copilot integration is seamlessly integrated, and Microsoft is further enhancing integration within Edge. A noteworthy AI addition to the default browser is the capacity to craft themes using AI technology.
According to the details outlined on the Microsoft 365 roadmap page, the forthcoming Edge feature will be known as the AI theme generator. This feature will enable users to generate a new theme by inputting text prompts, resulting in a series of images that will serve as the basis for Microsoft Edge’s new theme.
Upon application, the dominant color from the AI-generated image will be reflected in the browser frame, particularly noticeable on the new tab page. For instance, if black emerges as the dominant color on the Edge new tab page image, the frame will adopt a black hue to complement the image.
Presently, Microsoft Edge supports system default themes (dark or light) along with built-in themes. While additional themes can be downloaded from the web store, the AI theme generator promises a personalized touch, generating themes unique to individual PCs.

Microsoft Copilot already offers the capability to generate AI images using the DALL-E 3-based image generation tool. This feature is accessible via Edge or Copilot on Windows. Additionally, Microsoft Paint now includes the Image Cocreator (formerly known as Paint Cocreator). However, all these tools currently produce images in a resolution of 1024×1024.
The upcoming AI image generator in Edge will address this limitation by producing images with higher resolution and improved clarity. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for utilizing images as wallpapers on displays with resolutions of 1080P and higher.
Edge is not the sole browser incorporating AI for customization purposes. Google is also exploring a “create theme with AI” feature for Chrome, as highlighted by browser expert Leo on X. This functionality operates in a manner akin to Edge’s AI theme generator.

In addition to the AI theme generator, Microsoft wants to improve the way you print pages using Edge.
Edge tests Clutter-Free printing
Microsoft Edge has introduced a new feature called “ClutterFreePrinting” to the Canary channel. During testing, Windows Latest observed the emergence of a “Smart Print” option when attempting to print pages using Edge.
The “Smart Print” feature serves as a tool to eliminate ads from a page and print solely the main content. Our testing involved both advertisement and non-advertisement websites. For instance, on Wikipedia, where no ads were present, this resulted in a disruption of the original page structure.
When we tested it on a post on Windows Latest, it incorrectly removed the featured image.
We were also surprised to see that all the other images and ads were gone too. This means that Microsoft needs to make some changes so that the page still looks good when printed.
More changes are coming to Edge for Windows.
